Am finally done with my vows. I thought it would be rather straightforward. I thought to myself "how difficult can it be? Just say sweet things and impress the wife." Oh boy was I wrong about it.
I decided to go on a lone trip to Bali last month thinking that I could spend some "Des-time" to reflect on the past as a dating couple and the future as a married couple and then I would probably come up with something. And I came out of the trip with one whole week of "Des-time" with no vows and missing her a lot. Eventually I decided to just focus on tying the loose ends for the wedding instead.
And then I thought since I achieved what I planned to achieve in my career plans for 2011, I could go according to my plans for 1st half of 2012. And boy was I wrong BIG TIME (again). I ended up having the busiest 1st quarter of my work life. Trying to think of something to write for the vows during lunch times certainly wasn't helped by endless errands to be run during lunch and last minute attempts to get fit in the gym. Plan B obviously failed.
In the end, I figured that I would simply note down little bits of emotions and memories that pop up at the most unexpected of times. Thank Apple for the iPhone! Every single one of those ''moments'' were captured and noted. As I sat on my bed every night running through the 'notes' that were diligently taken over the last few weeks, I wondered how I could piece it all together seamlessly. In the end, I simply went back to basics. I imagined and went back to 13 years back when I first held her hand, wrote my first love note, whispered my first sweet nothings...
Everything came back like it was just yesterday. The little bits of emotions and memories were really fragments of what had been hidden in the inner-most vacuum in my heart and were just waiting to explode into life for this day. The day I make my promises and present my part of the deal to you. Now that it is done, I simple can't wait to say it to you. Thank God for putting us in St Andrew's. We were not there by chance indeed.
